200 Ways To Say…

The previous post was the 200th I’ve published on 35hunter.

No major landmark for those amongst us who have published thousands, and indeed my previous WordPress blog almost reached 450 posts.

But a pleasing waypoint nonetheless.

So what have those 200 posts been trying to say?

In short, I’m on this photography adventure, exploring what I find beautiful and interesting to photograph, hunting also for the best equipment to make those pictures with.

Much of the time it’s felt like 200 ways to say I don’t have a clue what I’m doing or why I’m doing it, but I think I’m moving gradually in the right direction.

The core arsenal I have now is, ironically, closer to that I began with around 12 years ago – a simple yet capable Sony camera phone – than most of what’s come between.

But without making each of those steps – including an extensive foray into film which taught me a huge amount on so many levels, I wouldn’t have the same experience and knowledge as I have now.

Or appreciate the simple effective tools I now use.

So thank you for being along for the ride so far, and here’s to the next 200 posts.

Thanks for looking. Please share this post with others you feel will enjoy it too. If you’re interested, this is what my photography life looks like right now.

  1. In this social media era photography has become a popularity contest (influencers, algorithms, views, likes, followers), combined with an unhealthy gear & brand obsession.
It is refreshing to read your posts about your simplification route. Looking forward to the next 200.

  2. Thoroughly enjoy your posts, they’ve certainly given me a lot to think about. Looking forward to many more!

  3. Dan, this would have to be one of your loveliest photos. I am so surprised by the color as I am so used to your black and white photos. love the way you count things. I am obsessed with numbers too especially digital clocks. I forgot to photograph the splendid sunrise today I was so caught up in the wonder of it xoxo susanJOY

    1. Thank you Susan. Yes I have made a gradual return to colour, and have a post about it coming very soon.

I always seem to be curious about counting. I can walk past a car and see shiny alloy wheels and need to count the number of spokes. My son seems equally curious about numbers!
